Super Mario Galaxy

Unlike the traditional side-scrolling Mario games, Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii is 3D. Instead of having a flat area map to choose which level to play next, you have a 3D space station with observatory's that hold levels. The space station is not used only for selecting your next level, but you can run around and find 1-up mushrooms.

10 Free 1up's (Location: Space Station)
  • Get 5 from the Mail Toad
  • Get 1 in the crate at the Garage
  • Get 1 from underneath the Gate dome
  • Get 1 from underneath the stairs of the Kitchen dome
  • Get 1 from the center, lower spinning platform
  • Get 1 from the top of the station (requires Red Star)

Starting boost when racing Cosmic Mario

  • When the countdown starts, hold forward, then as the countdown hits 2, hold down on Z to crouch. When the race starts, hit A and you will turn yellow for a few seconds and get a really good boost that will put you ahead of Cosmic Mario.

Unlock Luigi

  • Collect all 120 stars and fight Bowser after speaking to Rosalina on the Comet Observatory. Wait for the credits to end and you'll see a message saying Luigi is now playable. Note: Luigi jumps further, runs faster and doesn't stop as easily as Mario.

Halo 3

In Halo 3 Campaign and in certain Halo 3 Multi-Player maps there are hidden skulls to be found. Some unlock new armor, some unlock achievements. You can also play campaign with the campaign skulls turned on, each has a different effect on your gameplay.

To find the skulls in campaign, you must play on 'Normal' difficulty or higher.
  • Iron Skull: Located at the very end of the first level, 'Sierra 117'. It is located behind the building where Sgt. Johnson is being held captive, up on the roof. Travel all the way to the left side of the roof, and the skull will be concealed in the corner.
  • Black Eye Skull: Located in the beginning of the second level 'Crow's Nest'. In the room you start in, hanging down from the ceiling is some piping, on the side nearest to the large display is where the skull is located.
  • Tough Luck Skull: Located in the third level. It is located at the point in the level when the huge covenant cruiser flies overhead. On your left is some large piping following the road you are walking on. Underneath this piping are support beams that extend over a cliff. Jump onto the first beam and walk to the end of it. Look to your left and the skull will be sitting on a rock extending from the cliffs edge.
  • Catch Skull: Located in the fourth level, in the first area where you need to destroy the Wraiths, when you enter this area, do not destroy the tanks (the skull will disappear if the tank is destroyed). The skull is located on the top of the circular building next to the anti-air tank.
  • Fog Skull: Located in the level 'Floodgate', at the very beginning of the level. You have a very small window of opportunity to do this, right after you hear a marine yelling, "There! Over There!" Look up and to the right, directly at the roof of the building next to the missle launcher, there is a single flood form (not to be mistaken by the other two flood forms that jump in front of you) which is holding the skull. Kill him before he jumps and he will drop the skull for you to pick up. Make sure not to kill him to early or it will get stuck on the roof.
  • Famine Skull: Located in the sixth level, near the point where the path you follow branches off into two sections. Take the right path and you'll notice a structure above you and to the left of you (near the area where you encounter a few ghosts). You'll need to scale the rocks to the right of the structure, travel across it so that you pass 3 of the large support beams. Inside the fourth support beam is the famine skull, you will need to grenade jump to reach it.
  • Thunderstorm Skull: Located on the level 'The Covenant'. After you take commans of one of the hornets, fly towards the second force field generator and land. The skull is waiting at the very top at the end of the ramp extending over the sea.
  • Tilt Skull: Located on the level "Cortana", in the circular room where Cortana mentions that she "Likes to play games too..." Upon entering the room, head towards the left side where you will see some mushroom shaped extrusions along the wall. Get on top of these, look up and towards the right for another set of extrusions. Jump to them. From here, you will be able to jump on top of the ceiling where the skull lies in the center.
  • Mythic Skull: Located in the final level at the very beginning of the level. Head into the canyon but stay to the right wall. You will see a turn to the right that is off the normal path, follow it and the skull will be waiting.
  • Blind Skull (Silver): Located in the first level 'Sierra 117', after your first encounter with the Gold Armor Brute, two enemy dropships will appear further down the stream. Go towards the dropship that is furthest away and stay on the right side of the stream. Continue along towards the cliff edge and a rock will jut out over a large lake. The skull is located on the rock.
  • Grunt Birthday Party Skull (Silver): Located in the second level 'Crow's Nest', just before the area where you team up with the Arbiter. Just before you jump down the pipe to meet up with the Arbiter, stop at the ledge and look directly below you. Along the wall where you drop down, there is a small ledge with a green arrow pointing backwards. Jump onto this ledge and go inside the secret room to get the skull.
  • Cowbell Skull (Silver): Found on the level "The Ark" and is fairly far into the level. You will need a gravlift or a well place grenade jump. After you battle the scarab, there is a building in the middle of the desert area, a gravity lift can be found inside. Head up the huge ramp into the building, pass through a few of the rooms and you'll eventually come to a room with a lot of explosive crates. Right after this room is a staircase/hallway that leads to the level below. The skull is located at the top of the room on the ledge above the slope of the staircase on the uppermost platform of the four above you. Use the gravlift here.
  • IWHBYD Skull (Silver): Located on the level "The Covenant". At the long hallway with the 7 ring holograms, you must jump through the rings in specific order (the order is as follows, 1 is the entrance, 7 is the end). Only the last 7 notes of the sequence are needed, 4,6,5,4,5,3,4). After completing the sequence, go back to the bridge that brings you to the Prophet of Truth, the skull will now be there.

The following skulls are located in the DLC Mythic Map Pack for multiplayer, you will need to be in Forge to collect the skulls which are worth acheivement points.

  • Assembly Skull: In monitor mode, fly up to one of the two large arms extending over the center piece in the map and drop down into it to find the skull.
  • Sandbox Skull: Located outside of the safety permiter, you can't just walk to it, the guardians will kill you. Download a map someone has created to get to the skull and it is quite easy, many of these maps are floating around.
  • Orbital Skull: Where the big pit is in the middle of the map, where rockets spawn, fly towards the top of this area, on one of the ledges is where the skull will be.

Super Paper Mario

Super Paper Mario for the Wii is mostly about recipes and what items you can cook up. However, there are a few codes and puzzles you will need to solve to get by certain areas of the game. All these puzzles can be solved by playing the game and listening to the story, however, if you just want to get through it, here you go.

  • VIP Room Passcode: 5963
  • Fort Francis: Right Room = 2323, Left Room = 2828
  • Cragnon Blocks: #1 = 132, #2 = MRLLRMRLRRMRRLMMLLLRLLLMM

There are also a few secrets and tips that may prove useful.

  • Chapter 3-1 Shortcut: In the Underground portion of the level, before you use the pipe at the end, go up and over to the Warp Pipes. Left Pipe = Takes you backwards, Center Pipe = Shortcut, Right Pipe = Catch Card and Coins
  • Jump on Enemies with Style: When you hit an enemy, jump again and swing the Wii remote to execute an acrobatic move. Talk to Garson at The Underwhere for more info.
  • More Dimensions, More Money: Flip every time you see a row of coins or coin blocks. Often, there will be multiple rows of coins or coin blocks behind them in 3D but if you collect the coins in 2D, the 3D ones will disappear.

New Super Mario Bros. DS

If you loved Super Mario 3 on the NES and Super Mario World on the SNES, then you will really love the New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS. It is a mesh of both games with a new twist, new power-ups, new levels and the same old classic side-scroller Mario we all grew up loving. Here are some tips and tricks that may help you on your way to defeating Bowser and his minions. PS - If you are looking for all the golden coin locations, I am not listing them here, searching for them is half the fun!
  • Play as Luigi: At the 'Select file' screen, keep pressed the L and R buttons and choose one of your saved game files with the A button.
  • Unlock World 4: Defeat the boss in the last castle of World 2 as Mini Mario.
  • Unlock World 7: Defeat the boss in the last castle of World 5 as Mini Mario.

At the start of each world, you can make a different mushroom house appear, Red, Green or Orange. Each mushroom house has its own prizes inside. To make these houses appear, at the end of any level when you reach the flag, depending on what time is left on the clock when you jump on the flag pole determines which color mushroom house appears.

  • Red Mushroom House: Item Block prize, jump on flagpole at x11, x22 or x33
  • Green Mushroom House: 1-up Lives, jump on flagpole at x44, x55 or x66
  • Orange Mushroom House: Mega Mushroom, jump on flagpole at x77, x88 or x99

Warp Cannons (yes, cannons, not pipes):

  • World 3 Warp Cannon: At the ghost house in world 3, jump on the very last switch, run up the stairs (that were created by the switch), jump over the hole, go down the stairs to the left and turn right. Another door should appear next to the other one beneath the stairs. You must reach the door before the switch music stops or it will disappear.
  • World 5 Warp Cannon: In the ghost house in world 5, there are three blocks in a row, you will find some hidden blocks above it...

Donkey Kong Country

Donkey Kong Country for the SNES (also downloadable on the Wii) has many secrets. Below I have mentioned the main points of interest.

Before you start the game cheats: These must be done on the 'Select a Game' screen and 'Erase' must be highlighted.
  • Start with 50 Lives: Hold SELECT and press B, A, R, R, A, L

  • Animal Bonus Practice Games: Hold SELECT and press B, up, B, B, A

  • Sound Test: Hold SELECT and press B, A, L, L, A, down

  • Hero Mode: Complete the game with at least 90%, then start a new game, select Two Player mode to access Hero mode. You can only play Diddy Kong and there are no Donkey Kong Barrels or checkpoints.

Level Shortcuts: If you can't beat a level, here is the quickest way to do so, most of these will advance you to almost the end of the level.

  • Stop Go Station: When you enter the level, walk to the left and enter the door where you entered from.

  • Mine Cart Carnage: At the start of the level, instead of jumping into the first barrel, jump over it and stay to the left. It will appear you are committing suicide but you will land in a warp barrel.

  • Millstone Mayhem: In the start of the level, right after you pass under the squirrel in the big wheel there is a cliff, if you jump down it, you will land in a barrel. When it shoots you up, hold left and you will land on a ledge that will put you in a warp barrel.

  • Slipslide Ride: At the start of the level, you will see a blue rope, wait for the Kritter and use it to jump off and reach the rope. Jump to the ledge on the left. There is a bit of a blue barrel at the top of the wall that is barely visible, jump into it. This only takes you half way through the level.

Super Mario Bros. 3

Here are a couple helpful cheats that can make beating Super Mario Brothers 3 a breeze.

  • Make Mario Invincible: Pause, A, A, B, Left, Up, B, A (NES only)
  • To obtain 28 P-Wings: Beat the game, don't turn off the console and play again (NES and Wii)

Super Mario Bros. 2

Warping in Super Mario Bros. 2 is relatively simple, you just need to follow the same basic steps in specific areas of the game. Below I have listed how to warp to different worlds and where you need to do the following to warp. At each of the below locations, do the following: find the potion, drop the potion next to or directly on the pot mentioned, go through the door and then go down the pot.

  • Warp to World 4: In world 1-3, drop the potion on the pot next to the brick building all the way to the right side of the level.
  • Warp to World 5: In world 3-1, go through the door next to the large waterfall with all the clouds. Jump down and land on the platform in the center and enter. Drop the potion on this pot.
  • Warp to World 6: In world 4-2, find the potion and throw it on the pot.
  • Warp to World 7: In world 5-3, find the potion and throw it on the pot.
